MORNING CLASS OPTIONS




Pre-requisite:  All Ages!
Our Newest Class! Start your morning off right. Get the blood flowing and adrenaline pumping with our Kick it up a Knot Fitness program. Aimed to take our Corinthians and teach them the importance of staying fit. We’ll run weekly progression reports to show strength and stamina improvement so we can track all our results. We will run 2 or 3 age groups with age specific condition drills crafted by certified personal trainers. Take your sailing ability and Kick it up a Knot!



Pre-requisite:  Ages 5 - 7  
Our #1 seller!! This class opens the world of Sailing, Safety, Yacht Club environment and FUN to your 5-7 year olds. The Sea Otter class teaches young sailors basic terms, concepts and on-water experience in a safe and fun environment.  The class will be split into three subgroups that will rotate from classroom, to swim lessons and sailing time.  Swim lessons will only be Tuesday thru Friday.  This class helps kids become familiar with water safety, experience the feel of sailing and get comfortable around the Yacht Club.  






Pre-requisite:  Ages 7 - 11  
Our Classic Learn to Sail Course! The Novice class is designed for first time sailors.  Novices will learn to sail solo while learning the fundamentals of rigging, boat handling, points of sail, safety and seamanship.  By the end of each session sailors will be able to sail around a set course demonstrating upwind, reach and downwind abilities.  Each child must provide a Sabot or Opti ready to sail on the first day of class.  Limited charters are available.






Pre-requisite:  must have completed Novice class or obtain Directors approval  
This Returning Novice Class is otherwise known as Pre-C3 or Advanced Beginner. This class is ideal for the sailor who has not been on the water since last summer and wants to build confidence before being introduced to the competitive sailing scene. Sailors will learn the racing rules, as well as basic sail trim and boat handling.  This class is also great for Novice Graduates who have moved on to C3’s, but still prefer to sail in the morning session.  Each child must provide a Sabot or Opti ready to sail on the first day of class.  Limited charters are available

This Into to Sabot C3 Racing Class is designed for sailor ready for racing but either have schedule conflicts for afternoon sailing or they are aren’t quite ready for the breeze. Sailors will learn the racing rules, race course navigation, starting sequences and tactics and strategy. Sailor are encouraged to race in Beach to Bay, Tuesday Twilights, C Championship and other travel regattas in Southern California.



Pre-requisite:  Ages 10 - 15
$50 Charter fee for use of Club owned CFJ’s included                           
Our FASTEST growing Class!! This class is designed to teach young adults the basics of sailing in a non-competitive, social setting.  This can serve as the perfect class of younger sailors to experience double-handed sailing while still participating in afternoon sabot sailing. The class will cover basic boat handling, sailing terminology, cruising safety, sailing tactics and the basic rules or racing. 




When: 12:00 pm – 12:30 pm 
Where: Pool Deck 
Who: Sailors and Corinthian Kids 
Why: To Provide all day supervision and lunch for your child 


AFTERNOON SAILING OPITIONS

(All classes 1:00pm to 4:00pm)




Pre-requisite:  must have completed Returning Novice class or obtain Directors approval  
This Into to Sabot C3 Racing Class is designed for sailor ready for racing but either have schedule conflicts for afternoon sailing or they are aren’t quite ready for the breeze. Sailors will learn the racing rules, race course navigation, starting sequences and tactics and strategy. Sailor are encouraged to race in Beach to Bay, Tuesday Twilights, C Championship and other travel regattas in Southern California.

Pre-requisite:  Past regatta experience and focus to attend multiple events in summer  
This class is designed for those sailors who want to race. These sailors should be novice graduates who are big enough to handle the breezier Long Beach afternoons. Sailors will work on adjusting to sailing in moderate to heavy breeze, which is typical of afternoon sailing in our area. This class will be divided into two groups (C3's and C2's) after the first two days.  This class will cover race tactics, sail trim, boat handling skills and the Racing Rules of Sailing. All sailors in this class will be encouraged to participate in the Tuesday Night Twilights, Wednesday Alamitos Bay Fleet (ABF) races and all recommended travel regattas. Program fee covers all summer regattas and Sabot Nationals Coaching.

Pre-requisite:  Must be A, B or C1 sailor who plans to attend Sabot Nationals  
This class is designed for sailors who want to focus on a strong performance at Sabot Nationals. Sailors are introduced to the physics of racing sailboats. Practice will focus on using sail controls, body weight, teamwork and sail theory to make their boat go faster through drills.  Sailors will participate in weekly Tuesday Night Twilights and Alamitos Bay Fleet (ABF) races.  Sailors are also expected to travel to regattas outside of class to prepare for a strong finish at Jr. Sabot Nationals.  Program fee covers all summer regattas and Sabot Nationals Coaching.



Additional $50 Charter fee for use of Club owned CFJ’s
Pre-requisite:  Must be a C1 or higher (or obtain Director Approval) ages 13 and up
Minimum of 6 sailors must register in order to have a class!!  
This program is designed to teach young adults with a foundation of intermediate racing the next level of racing in a double-handed dinghy.  This class will focus on sailing techniques in the windy afternoon breezes of Long Beach.  LBYC club owned CFJ’s will be provided for this class (Additional $50 Charter fee). More inexperienced sailors will likely spend much of their time in the crewing position.  A big consideration is coming to class with a set sailing partner! A minimum of 6 sailors is required to have a class.

Pre-requisite: Ages 10 and up
Minimum of 6 sailors must register in order to have a class!!  
This is similar to our morning FJ Cruiser class but with the fun of the afternoon breeze. Can also be a good way to bundle with a morning class and spend all day at the yacht club sailing! Sailors will learn all the sailing basics along with destination sails, simple navigation and field trips. This is a class all about having fun sailing with friends without the competition. A big consideration is coming to class with a set sailing partner! A minimum of 6 sailors is required to have a class.
Depiction Release
1. Long Beach Yacht Club (“LBYC”) is the lessee and operator of a facility located at 6201 East Appian Way, Long Beach, CA 90803 (the “Facility”). The Facility includes a swimming pool and surrounding deck (the “Pool”) located on the Facility premises. LBYC is also the owner, lessor, and/or operator of the Motor Yacht “Loynes,” U.S. Official Number 1075632, together with various rigid inflatable boats, tenders, sailboats and dinghies (collectively the “LBYC Boats”).
2. LBYC is a facilitator of the event described below (the “Program”). The undersigned individual (the “Participant”) wishes to participate in the Program, which may include the use of the Pool and certain other areas of the Facility and the use of certain equipment by the Participant, including but not limited to LBYC Boats, at the Facility, in and adjacent to the Pool, aboard one or more LBYC Boats and/or at various remote locations. The Participant wishes to enter into this Release of Liability (“Release”) to allow for Participant’s participation in the Program. If the Participant is a minor, a parent or legal guardian must sign on the minor’s behalf, and thereby be considered with the child as the Participant for the purposes of this Release. The Program may be conducted by, or in cooperation with, one or more other third party organizations that are not a party to this Release.
3. In consideration of LBYC allowing Participant to access the locations and boats and activities associated with participation in the Program, such access being hereby acknowledged as valuable and sufficient consideration for the release provided herein, and in consideration of the recitals made above, Participant represents and agrees as follows: 
Release and Assumption of Risk by Program Participants
I, the undersigned Participant (or parent or legal guardian of the participant) in the Program described below understand and agree that activities associated with participation in the Program are vigorous and can involve severe cardiovascular stress. I understand that all of the risks associated with participation in the Program cannot be foreseen, but they may arise from various sources, including but not limited to authorized and planned activities in the Pool, walking or unadvised running on wet and slippery surfaces, participation in water sports or activities that exceed my capabilities or the capabilities of my minor child, and/or the possible reckless conduct of other participants, any or all of which may lead to serious injury or death. I further understand that the Program may include social segments which may involve the consumption of food, refreshments, and alcoholic beverages, all of which also may involve an element of risk, from interaction with other individuals involved in the Program, or from transportation to or from the location of the Program, or from the food or refreshments consumed. I further understand that the Program may be subject to delays and other inconveniences, and that no representations or guarantees are made as to the objectives or results of the Program. Notwithstanding these and other elements of risk and inconvenience, I wish to participate in the Program or allow my minor child to participate in the Program because of my (or our) interest in the subject matter of the Program and in the activities that I expect to enjoy during the Program. Therefore, in consideration of LBYC allowing me and/or my minor child to access the Pool and certain other areas of the Facility to participate in the Program, I hereby agree to accept any and all risks associated with the Program with the knowledge of the dangers and risks involved. I, of and or myself and/or minor child participating in the Program, and my heirs, assigns, and agents, hereby release LBYC together with its directors, elected and appointed flag officers, staff commodores, members, employees, attorneys and agents., and agree to defend and indemnify them and hold them harmless, from any and all disputes, actions, claims, demands, liabilities, judgments, and attorneys fees, which are related to or arise directly or indirectly from the activities associated with the Program, including, without limitation, those due to the negligence, fault or other act or omission of LBYC. In further consideration of the foregoing, I hereby grant to LBYC the exclusive right to take and use photographs and/or digital images of me and/or my minor child for use in LBYC publications, news releases, and/or educational materials in printed or electronic media and I waive any property interest that I may have in such materials. I understand that my name and identity may be revealed with the image(s).
