The Clubhouse Update
from your Forward & Strategic Planning Committee

Welcome!
Welcome to the Long Beach Yacht Club’s public information site for the facility improvements master plan that our members and club leadership endorsed in Fall 2022. Our proposed re-design has been under review by the City since that time and that process continues today. Through this website we hope to share with our other neighbors the club’s design plan and to answer any questions that you might have. Any actual construction remains more than a year away and will require formal City and California Coastal Commission approval to proceed.

While we are not considering any expansion of membership or event activities, our facility is bursting at the seams since its last significant expansion occurred in 1987 when membership was significantly smaller. As well, the facility is now 60 years old so significant systems like electrical, plumbing and the pool are in need of fundamental overhaul. As you will see from the design drawings, we are committed to retaining the traditional exterior architecture you are familiar with and that our members cherish.

While many of our neighbors are also club members, we recognize that it is important to share project information openly with all of our neighbors. Many of you will have talked with our neighborhood outreach representatives in recent weeks or attended Commodore Blair Carty’s presentation to the March NIA meeting. Please review the information provided here and let us know any questions you may have. We are happy to visit with you directly at any time and will respond to your messages sent to clubhouseupdate@lbyc.org.
